We shred dense underbrush, woody shrubs and suitable young trees along overgrown Savannah lots, trails and fence lines. A compact track loader carries the drum mulching head and works around marked trees. Processed wood stays on-site as mulch, while buried roots remain.
Best for overgrown lots, trails and selective clearing where an on-site mulch layer fits your plans.
Shred underbrush, woody shrubs and small trees; stems up to 7 inches assessed individually.
Controlled passes around the trees you want to keep.
Mulch processed on-site; root removal and hauling are separate.
The customer wanted to open up 2 acres of wooded area. We mulched dense underbrush and smaller trees while keeping the marked trees. The cut material stayed on the ground as mulch, leaving the area easier to walk and maintain.

Our Forestry Mulching Process and Equipment
Our process uses an efficient mulching head mounted on a compact track loader to shred wood, underbrush and small to medium-sized trees, typically 5-7 inches in diameter. We work in controlled passes around marked trees, then reprocess thicker material into ground cover. Tree species, density and site conditions determine how we approach each stem.
Savannah Underbrush and Coastal Regrowth
Wax myrtle, yaupon holly, greenbrier and muscadine vines can form dense coastal understory. These native plants are retained or reduced according to the agreed plan. Invasive Chinese tallow also occurs in the coastal region. Suitable stems need an equipment check, and surviving roots or crowns can regrow after cutting.
Land Clearing Questions, Clear Answers.
Do I need a permit for land clearing in Savannah?+
The address, trees and intended work determine the approvals. Savannah has tree-protection rules and a timbering, clearing and grading review process. Chatham County and nearby cities use their own local processes. Georgia construction stormwater coverage and coastal environmental approvals are separate checks. We confirm the jurisdiction and scope before cutting or disturbing soil.
Will forestry mulching remove the roots and stumps?+
A suitable mulching head can reduce exposed stumps, but mulching is not the same as extracting roots. If the area will become a driveway, barn or house pad, confirm the separate root-removal and ground-preparation requirements.
Will one cutting pass stop woody regrowth from returning?+
No permanent result is guaranteed. Roots, crowns or seeds can produce new growth after cutting or mulching. We discuss repeat maintenance or a separate plant-management plan. Native wax myrtle and vines are managed according to the desired finish, rather than automatically treated as invasive plants.
